Wed Sep 25 05:53:43 UTC 2024: ## Manchester City’s Rodri Faces Potential Season-Ending Injury
Manchester City midfielder Rodri has traveled to Spain for further tests on a right knee injury sustained during Sunday’s Premier League clash against Arsenal. The Spanish international, who limped off after just 20 minutes of the game, is facing the possibility of a long-term absence, potentially jeopardizing City’s title ambitions.
While initial reports suggested a serious cruciate ligament injury, a source told ESPN that surgery is likely, but there is a chance the ligament might not be as severely damaged. A cruciate ligament injury could sideline Rodri for up to eight months, while a less serious issue could keep him out for around five months.
City manager Pep Guardiola confirmed Rodri’s absence, but refrained from giving details about the injury, stating that “we are still waiting for the decision of the doctors.”
The news comes as a major blow for City, who are currently leading the Premier League by a single point. Rodri, a frontrunner for the 2024 Ballon d’Or, is considered a pivotal player for the Citizens due to his defensive prowess and ability to control the midfield.
His potential prolonged absence raises concerns for City’s title defense, as they aim to secure a record-breaking fifth consecutive Premier League crown. The club will be hoping for a swift recovery for their star midfielder.
