Mon Sep 23 21:44:42 UTC 2024: ## Boil Water Advisory Issued for Area Near Winnipeg Due to Construction

**Winnipeg, MB** – Residents in a rural area northeast of Winnipeg will be under a boil water advisory starting Tuesday night due to potential contamination risks related to ongoing construction. The advisory, issued by Manitoba’s Medical Officer of Health, affects a stretch of land bordered by Brady Road to the east, La Salle Road 9 East and Loudoun Road 9 East to the west, and situated between Four Mile Road to the north and roughly half a mile south of Road 53 Northeast.

The advisory stems from construction work connecting a new reservoir to the McGillivray Business Park, which could lead to poorly treated water being distributed in the affected area. Starting at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, residents are advised to boil tap water for at least a minute before drinking, preparing food, or brushing their teeth.

Further precautions include avoiding swallowing water while showering, sponge bathing children, and relying on bottled water for those unable to boil.

The advisory will remain in effect until the water supply system is deemed safe for public consumption, although a specific date for lifting the advisory has not been provided.
