Wed Sep 25 06:53:30 UTC 2024: ## Real Madrid Edge Out Alaves Despite Late Scare, Mbappe Scores Again
**Madrid, Spain -** Real Madrid secured a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Alaves in La Liga on Tuesday, despite a late comeback from the visitors. Kylian Mbappe continued his hot streak, scoring for the fourth consecutive game, while Lucas Vazquez and Rodrygo also found the back of the net for the reigning champions.
The match saw Real Madrid dominate for much of the first hour, with Vazquez opening the scoring in the first minute. Mbappe added a second goal just before halftime, following a slick combination with Jude Bellingham. Rodrygo extended the lead early in the second half, putting Real in a comfortable position.
However, Alaves mounted a late fightback. Substitute Carlos Protesoni pulled one goal back in the 85th minute, and then set up Kike Garcia for a quickfire second goal.
Despite the late scare, Real Madrid held on to secure the win, extending their unbeaten run in the league to 39 games.
Carlo Ancelotti, the Real Madrid manager, praised his team’s performance for the majority of the match but acknowledged the team’s lapses that allowed Alaves to claw back.
“This is football, you can think the game has finished, (then there’s) a small slip and they score the first, they get confidence and you lose it, this is what happens,” Ancelotti said. “We have to highlight that for an hour the team played well and that gives us confidence.”
Ancelotti also addressed the incident involving young substitute Endrick, who appeared to avoid a red card despite a reckless challenge on Alaves defender Santiago Mourino.
The victory moves Real Madrid to within one point of Barcelona, who face Getafe on Wednesday. Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, will face Celta Vigo on Thursday.
