Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh expressed confidence in veteran kicker Justin Tucker, despite a recent dip in his field goal accuracy. Tucker, known for his exceptional kicking prowess, has struggled this season, converting just 5 out of 8 field goals, a far cry from his career average of 89.7%.
The concern centers around Tucker’s long-distance kicks, as he missed all five attempts from 50 yards or more last season and has yet to connect on two such attempts this year. While age may be a factor – Tucker will turn 35 in November – Harbaugh attributes the slump to a “technique issue” that he believes Tucker can overcome.
“He’s everything you want in a player and a friend,” Harbaugh said of Tucker. “He’s got a technique thing going on. He knows exactly what it is and just needs to smooth it back out. I’m very confident that he will.”
Despite this recent slump, Tucker remains arguably the best kicker in NFL history, boasting a Super Bowl title, five First-Team All-Pro selections, and a slew of league-leading achievements. He has the chance to prove his recent struggles are a mere blip on the radar when the Ravens host the Buffalo Bills in a crucial AFC showdown this Sunday.
