**Wilmington, Delaware:** US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti has highlighted the strong bond between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Joe Biden as a key driver for the rapidly expanding ties between the two nations. In an interview with ANI, Garcetti declared that PM Modi is the “most pro-American Prime Minister” India has seen, and President Biden is the “most pro-Indian president” in US history.
Garcetti attributed the robust relationship to the personal friendship between the two leaders, stating that they represent the close ties between their respective countries. He emphasized the importance of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quad), a forum comprising the US, India, Japan, and Australia, in shaping a vision for a free and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.
“The Quad is a powerful place to set a vision, share principles and to come up with common solutions in the Indo-Pacific,” said Garcetti. He further explained that the Quad aims to counter nations that disregard international norms and rule of law, emphasizing proactive solutions to shared challenges.
The recent Quad summit, hosted by President Biden in Wilmington, saw the four nations release a joint declaration outlining cooperation in various areas including disaster assistance, supply chain security, and climate change. Garcetti assured that the Quad is not a military alliance aimed at projecting power but rather focuses on preserving peace and prosperity in the region.
The ambassador also highlighted the $1 billion joint investment by the US and India to address climate vulnerabilities affecting nearly 900 million people in both countries. He stressed that the Quad is not a threat to any nation but rather a platform for upholding shared principles and finding solutions that benefit the entire Indo-Pacific region.
