Mon Sep 23 22:00:00 UTC 2024: ## Platinum Games Takes Control of “The Wonderful 101” Franchise

**Kyoto, Japan -** Platinum Games, renowned for its action-packed titles, has officially acquired the trademark for the popular “The Wonderful 101” franchise. This follows a successful Kickstarter campaign for “The Wonderful 101: Remastered” in 2020, where the game was self-published by Platinum Games for the first time.

The transfer of the trademark, which began on August 16th, was filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on September 9th, signaling a complete handover of rights from original publisher Nintendo.

“The Wonderful 101,” originally released for the Wii U in 2013, features a unique blend of action and strategy. Players control a team of unlikely heroes who must transform into weapons and objects to fight off an alien invasion.

The remaster, released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC, brought the title to a wider audience and solidified its status as a cult classic.

“This move marks a new chapter for ‘The Wonderful 101′ franchise,” stated Atsushi Inaba, Platinum Games producer. “We are excited to explore new possibilities with the brand and continue to bring the unique experience to more players.”

This acquisition reinforces Platinum Games’ commitment to self-publishing and its growing independence. The company, known for developing high-quality titles like “Bayonetta,” “Vanquish,” and “Nier: Automata,” is poised for further success with full creative control over its own IPs.
