Mon Sep 23 21:09:00 UTC 2024: ## Raiders Coach Pierce Doubles Down on “Business Decisions” Comment After Loss, Hints at Potential QB Change

**Henderson, Nevada -** Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce left the door open for a quarterback change after a disappointing 36-22 home-opening loss to the Carolina Panthers. While Pierce praised rookie Aidan O’Connell for his late-game performance, he also defended his post-game criticism of certain players, who he claimed made “business decisions” during the game.

O’Connell, who led a 70-yard touchdown drive after entering in the fourth quarter, completed 9 of 12 passes for 82 yards, including a touchdown pass to Tre Tucker. Despite the strong showing, O’Connell said he’s unsure what his role will be moving forward.

“I want to execute any time my number’s called,” O’Connell said. “We hope to be winning and not coming from behind, but I’m definitely grateful for the opportunity.”

Pierce, however, declined to rule out a potential quarterback change from starting quarterback Gardner Minshew, who completed 18 of 28 passes for 214 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He emphasized the need for evaluation, stating, “We’ve got to get with the players and just evaluate everything first.”

Pierce also reiterated his “business decisions” statement, adding, “I don’t bite my tongue.” He explained that some players didn’t perform at their best and highlighted the importance of team effort. “You’re going to have times where sometimes your best players don’t have their best days and other guys got to step up,” Pierce said.

The Raiders, who host the Cleveland Browns this Sunday, are facing a critical moment. The team has struggled to maintain consistency, with Pierce expressing concern about the lack of effort in the final quarter against Carolina.

Adding to the team’s challenges, safety Marcus Epps suffered a torn ACL during the game, according to NFL Network.
