**Melbourne, Australia** – An advocacy group, Trans Justice Project, has launched a petition calling for the Australian government to deny entry to anti-trans activist Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull, also known as Posie Parker. The petition, which has already garnered over 1,700 signatures in 24 hours, argues that Keen-Minshull should be barred on character grounds.
Keen-Minshull is scheduled to speak at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Brisbane on October 5-6. The event will also feature Sall Grover, who recently lost a court case against transgender woman Roxy Tickle, and former UK Prime Minister Liz Truss.
Keen-Minshull gained notoriety in Australia for organizing a series of rallies across the country under the banner “Let Women Speak.” These rallies have often been met with protests and counter-protests, and have been marred by incidents of violence and hate speech. In Tasmania, she called Tasmanian MP Cassy O’Connor a “groomer” and an “abuser” for having a trans child. In Canberra, she was confronted by Senator Lydia Thorpe, who was subsequently pushed to the ground.
The Trans Justice Project and New Zealand’s The Disinformation Project have found that anti-trans harassment and hate speech spiked in the weeks following her rallies.
In 2023, Green’s MP Stephen Bates requested the government deny Keen-Minshull a visa, but his request was rejected. A Change.org petition to revoke her visa also failed after facing legal threats.
Despite previous attempts to bar her entry, the Trans Justice Project hopes that this latest petition will be successful. They have sent the petition and a letter to Immigration Minister Tony Bourke, urging him to deny Keen-Minshull a visa.
