**BALTIMORE, MD -** The Baltimore Ravens are bolstering their defensive line, signing veteran defensive end Yannick Ngakoue to their practice squad, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The move comes after a shaky performance by the Ravens defense in their Week 3 game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Ngakoue, 29, brings a wealth of experience to the Ravens, having racked up 69 sacks over his career. He most recently played for the Chicago Bears in 2023, registering four sacks in 13 starts. In 2020, Ngakoue played nine games for the Ravens, recording three sacks.
The Ravens’ defense has been a strength for the team in recent seasons, finishing sixth in the NFL in yards allowed and first in points allowed last year. However, they have struggled in the first three weeks of the 2024 season, allowing 27, 26, and 19 points against the Chiefs, Raiders, and Cowboys respectively.
“We’re looking for a spark,” said head coach John Harbaugh. “Yannick is a proven pass rusher who can help us generate pressure and get to the quarterback.”
With a new defensive coordinator in Zach Orr, the Ravens defense has faced some growing pains. The addition of Ngakoue to the practice squad is a sign that the team is committed to returning to their dominant defensive form of last season.
