Wed Sep 25 16:55:36 UTC 2024: ## Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Faces Heat Over MUDA Scam, Defiant Despite Court Order
**Bengaluru:** Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is facing mounting pressure over allegations of corruption in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment scam. On Wednesday, a special court ordered the Lokayuka police to investigate the matter, setting a December 24 deadline for the investigation report.
Siddaramaiah, known for his “Mr Clean” image, has maintained his innocence and vowed to fight any legal battles. He has sought advice from his legal advisors and is expected to explore legal remedies, including challenging the FIR in the High Court and potentially the Supreme Court.
While the Congress party is cautiously awaiting the outcome of the legal proceedings, Siddaramaiah’s camp insists he will continue his regular work. They are confident that he will be exonerated, pointing to the political motivation behind the accusations, which they believe were instigated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent remarks on the issue.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar expressed his support for Siddaramaiah, stating that he believes the Chief Minister was not involved in any wrongdoing and that any irregularities may have been committed by MUDA officials.
However, the court’s order adds to Siddaramaiah’s woes, especially considering that the one-man inquiry commission headed by retired High Court Justice PN Desai, set up to investigate the MUDA irregularities, will continue its probe.
This development has put the Chief Minister in a difficult position, with the next three months crucial for his political future. It remains to be seen how this legal battle will unfold and how it will impact Siddaramaiah’s political standing.
