**Lagos, Nigeria** – A new partnership between Traders of Africa (TOFA), AliExpress, MTN MoMo, and Speedaf promises to transform Nigeria’s e-commerce landscape by providing Nigerians with access to a vast global marketplace. The initiative was unveiled during a press conference in Lagos, highlighting the collaborative effort to offer a seamless shopping experience for Nigerian consumers.
This partnership will allow Nigerians to purchase over 200 million items available on AliExpress, with the convenience of paying in local currency through MTN MoMo and receiving reliable delivery through Speedaf.
“We are thrilled to bridge the gap between Nigerian consumers and global markets,” said Uju Uzo-Ojinaka, CEO of TOFA. “This partnership makes our vision of an ‘Alibaba for Africa’ a reality.”
The partnership is seen as a major boost for local entrepreneurs and economic development, facilitating the onboarding of vendors and consumers across the continent.
Geoffrey Jiang, Director of AliExpress Business Africa Key Account, expressed his excitement about the initiative, stating, “With TOFA, MTN MoMo, and Speedaf, we believe we can go far in supporting digital trade across Africa.”
The partnership aligns with the goals of the African Continental Free Trade Area, with TOFA serving as an execution arm in Nigeria.
Usoro Usoro, Executive Director of Strategy at MoMo PSB, emphasized the importance of efficient payment systems in driving e-commerce growth. “We are helping businesses like TOFA reach a wider audience by providing secure and seamless payment solutions,” he stated.
The “shopping without borders” initiative allows Nigerian consumers to access a global marketplace with just their phones, making global shopping accessible and convenient.
