Mon Sep 23 22:00:00 UTC 2024: ## Boxing Legend Mike Tyson Backs Dana White’s Entry into the Sport

**LAS VEGAS** – Boxing legend Mike Tyson has thrown his support behind UFC CEO Dana White’s long-awaited foray into the world of professional boxing, predicting that White’s approach will revolutionize the sport.

During a recent appearance on the “It Is What It Is” podcast, Tyson expressed his belief that White’s strict standards for fighters in the UFC would translate seamlessly to boxing. “That’s going to be the best thing to happen to boxing, just like UFC,” Tyson said. “If you don’t have a good fight, you ain’t never going to see that guy again.”

Tyson specifically referenced the case of Shakur Stevenson, a rising star boxer who has faced criticism for delivering lackluster performances. “Not like boxing, ‘This guy’s going to fight next month again? We don’t want to see that,'” Tyson stated.

The 58-year-old Tyson is set to make his return to the ring on November 15th against YouTube sensation turned professional boxer, Jake Paul. This matchup has attracted its share of criticism, with many expressing concerns about Tyson’s age and health.

When asked about his assessment of Paul’s boxing skills, Tyson was concise: “I don’t know. He’s improved since the first time he fought. I started him off, I started Jake off. I let him fight on my undercard four years ago, no one knew who the hell he was. So I started him and, most likely, it looks like I’m going to finish him.”

The fight was initially scheduled for July but was postponed after Tyson experienced a pre-fight medical scare. While Tyson remained tight-lipped about his own health, he did offer a poignant observation about athletes who push themselves beyond their limits: “There’s some athletes you have to protect them from themselves, because they would rather die than quit. So that answers the question.”

Tyson’s return to the ring promises to be a highly anticipated event, and with Dana White’s potential entry into the sport, the future of boxing could be on the cusp of a significant shakeup.
