Mon Sep 23 22:32:23 UTC 2024: ## North Carolina Gubernatorial Candidate Mark Robinson Faces Mounting Pressure Over Alleged Racist and Sexist Posts

**RALEIGH, NC -** North Carolina Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson’s campaign for governor is facing mounting pressure following a CNN report alleging that he made racist and sexist posts on a pornography website over a decade ago.

Robinson, endorsed by former President Donald Trump, has vehemently denied writing the posts, calling them “salacious tabloid lies.” However, the allegations have led to significant upheaval within his campaign. Several top staffers have resigned, and even his supporter, Senator Thom Tillis, has urged Robinson to disprove the allegations quickly.

While Tillis stopped short of withdrawing his support, he also stated he would not be campaigning for Robinson, saying his focus is on legislative districts and the presidential race.

The allegations have also strained Robinson’s relationship with Trump. While the former president was quiet on the controversy at a recent rally in Wilmington, North Carolina, his running mate, Senator JD Vance, addressed the issue saying, “What he said or didn’t say is between him and the people of North Carolina.”

Despite the controversy, Robinson maintains his commitment to staying in the race, telling reporters, “We have five weeks left in this race and make no mistake, we will not let this derail us from our mission.” He also announced plans to take legal action against CNN.

The controversy has significantly impacted the race, with Robinson trailing Democratic nominee Josh Stein, the state’s current attorney general, in recent polls. However, Robinson remains optimistic about his chances, saying his campaign is “in a strong position to make our case to the voters and win on November 5.”
