**Paris, France** – Louis Vuitton, known for its iconic monogram print, has unveiled a new fine jewelry line featuring the equally recognizable Damier pattern. The collection, aptly named “Le Damier de Louis Vuitton,” translates the checkerboard motif into 12 unisex pieces, all crafted in diamonds, yellow gold, and white gold.
This launch marks the Damier’s journey from a classic canvas print, first designed by Georges Vuitton in 1888, to the foundation of Pharrell Williams’ inaugural men’s collection as Louis Vuitton’s creative director. Now, the timeless pattern is reimagined in luxurious jewelry, reflecting the brand’s commitment to heritage and innovation.
To preserve the Damier’s simple yet striking aesthetic, Louis Vuitton’s artistic director for watches and jewelry, Francesca Amfitheatrof, crafted square gold etchings, each surrounding a round brilliant diamond set in a square to create a linear, modern look. “It is a diamond collection that is not just about the stones but the pattern that they create,” explained Amfitheatrof.
The collection is primarily composed of rings, available in varying widths to emphasize or soften the Damier effect and encourage stacking. However, it also features huggie hoops that showcase the collection’s convex shapes and tennis bracelets crafted in square lines echoing the design of a tennis court.
Honoring the pattern’s sporty heritage, Amfitheatrof designed the bracelets with a soft, flexible articulation, ensuring they are “always in motion, and always on your wrist.”
The full “Le Damier de Louis Vuitton” collection will be available on October 18th at Louis Vuitton stores and online.
