**Thiruvananthapuram:** Malayalam actor Siddique is facing imminent arrest after the Kerala High Court rejected his anticipatory bail plea in a rape case filed against him by a female actor. The court, describing the allegations as “grave,” denied bail, emphasizing the need for custodial interrogation to facilitate a thorough investigation.
The complainant, who accused Siddique of sexual assault in 2016, expressed satisfaction with the court’s decision, stating on Facebook, “Life is a boomerang, and you will receive back what you give.” However, she criticized the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for leaking information to the media, raising concerns about the handling of the case.
The SIT has issued a lookout notice for Siddique, whose phones are currently switched off, preventing him from leaving the country. Police officers are set to travel from Thiruvananthapuram to Kochi to apprehend the actor.
The case against Siddique stemmed from allegations made by the young actress, who accused him of manipulating her with promises of film roles before assaulting her in a hotel room. She recounted her harrowing ordeal, emphasizing the psychological and physical trauma she endured.
The High Court’s decision comes after the investigation team gathered substantial evidence and witness testimonies supporting the complainant’s claim. Despite Siddique’s denial of the accusations, the court deemed the evidence sufficient to warrant his arrest.
Siddique’s legal team plans to appeal the High Court’s decision to the Supreme Court. The investigation continues as authorities work to ensure justice for the victim.
