**Dublin, Ireland** – Irish bookstores are gearing up for a major sales day as Sally Rooney’s highly anticipated new novel “Intermezzo” hits shelves this morning. The release is causing a buzz throughout the country, with shops anticipating high demand and even extending their opening hours.

“The buzz will be mighty,” said Lily Keoghan of Waterstones in Cork city. “We’ve always been massive Sally Rooney fans.” Keoghan likened the excitement to a Harry Potter book release, saying “There’s no bigger publishing event this year.”

Hodges Figgis on Dawson Street in Dublin will open an hour early at 8am to accommodate the anticipated rush. The shop has already pre-sold a significant number of copies and stocked up on 1,000 copies in preparation.

“The build up has been quite exciting,” said shop manager Tony Hayes. “The interest in Intermezzo has been more intense than for her previous novels.”

The novel, which follows two grieving brothers, has garnered rave reviews from critics, with The Guardian calling it “utterly perfect” and The Irish Times describing it as “bold, adventurous and captivating.”

However, not everyone is singing the book’s praises. A review in the Irish Independent criticized the novel for lacking a female perspective.

While the book’s release on a Tuesday has thrown a wrench in some stores’ usual routines, managers like Tom Hoban of Dubray Books are prepared for a busy day.

“We’ve gone heavy on it,” said Hayes, echoing the sentiment of many booksellers. “We’re expecting it to be one of the marquee books this Christmas.”

Rooney’s previous works, “Normal People” and “Conversations With Friends,” have been adapted into popular television shows, further solidifying her status as a literary sensation.

With pre-orders booming and high expectations from readers, “Intermezzo” promises to be a huge success, potentially setting a new standard for book launches in Ireland.
