**NEW DELHI, Sept. 23 (Xinhua)** – India has confirmed its second case of mpox, this time in the southern state of Kerala. A 38-year-old man from the Malappuram district tested positive for the clade 1b strain of the virus after recently returning from the United Arab Emirates. The man is currently in stable condition.

This comes just over a month after India reported its first case of mpox. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the mpox outbreak a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on August 14th, following a significant surge in cases across several African countries.
