Wed Sep 25 15:54:21 UTC 2024: ## Mumbai Braces for Heavy Rains as Red Alert Issued

**Mumbai, India:** The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Mumbai and its surrounding districts, predicting extremely heavy rainfall until 8:30 am on Thursday.

The city has been experiencing heavy showers since afternoon, with Mulund and its surrounding areas witnessing the heaviest rainfall resulting in waterlogging in low-lying areas.

Heavy rains have slowed down road traffic due to waterlogging and poor visibility. Suburban train services, a lifeline for Mumbai, have also been delayed due to the downpour.

The IMD upgraded its orange alert to red, warning of “extremely heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds at isolated places very likely” in Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, and Ratnagiri districts.

Coastal districts of Palghar and Sindhudurg have been placed under an orange alert, with “heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds at isolated places very likely”.

This news comes on the heels of the **Traders Gurukul’s BOTS (Biggest Options Trading Summit)**, a prestigious event held on the 2nd or 3rd Sunday of every month across major cities in India. The summit aims to provide traders with insights into the options market and facilitate networking opportunities.
