**Nellore, Andhra Pradesh:** Suhas B Shetty, a young entrepreneur, has taken his family’s legacy of ice cream making to new heights, transforming a small local shop into a thriving organic ice cream brand, “Iceberg Organic Ice Creams.” Drawing inspiration from his childhood memories of his grandparents’ ice cream business, Shetty decided to bring the joy of organic ice cream to his hometown after completing his doctorate in pharmacy.
Starting with a modest investment of ₹3 lakhs in 2013, Shetty’s ice cream business has flourished, now boasting over 120 retail outlets and a state-of-the-art ₹10 crore solar-powered factory spread across two acres in Nellore. The success of Iceberg can be attributed to Shetty’s dedication to using only organic ingredients, including A2 milk, organic butter, dhaga mishri, and gondh as a natural preservative.
“We offer more than 36 flavours, ranging from classic options like vanilla and butterscotch to organic fruit flavours like sitaphal, tender coconut, chikoo, and guava,” Shetty says. He has also introduced innovative flavours such as charcoal, malai khurma, and gulab jamun.
Taking a cue from Dubai, Shetty has introduced ice cream made with goat milk, camel milk, and donkey milk, which are sourced from local farmers in Karnataka, Jaipur, Hyderabad, and Nellore. Despite their unique nature, these variants have been well-received by customers.
Looking towards the future, Shetty is expanding into the premium segment with ‘Organic Creamery by Iceberg,’ which will offer an extensive product range, including organic chocolates, cold-pressed juices, ice cream cakes, and family packs. They are also developing a custom fruit selection healthy smoothie segment and launching açaí bowls.
Furthermore, the team is working towards launching a grocery brand, Proud Farmer Organics, which will retail ghee, honey, unrefined sugar, liquid jaggery, oils, and other products directly sourced from farms.
