Mon Sep 23 23:05:00 UTC 2024: ## Gane Skips Paris for Bigger Opportunity, UFC Paris Headliner Changes
**Paris, France** – UFC’s return to Paris this weekend will see a change in the main event, with former interim Heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane absent from the card.
Gane was initially expected to headline the event, but a “better opportunity” arose, according to his coach Fernand Lopez. This opportunity involves a fight against Alexander Volkov at UFC 310 in Abu Dhabi, a matchup that offers a higher-ranked opponent, potential for a larger pay-per-view audience, and a better path towards a championship title shot.
“It makes sense for us to accept that opportunity,” Lopez stated. “Ciryl already fought two times in Paris, finished his opponent two times in Paris and enjoyed the moment to win in Paris. I think for him it is a new challenge to go to Abu Dhabi, a new different market.”
Gane’s absence from the Paris card will see Benoit Saint Denis facing Renato Moicano in the new main event. The event takes place on Saturday, September 28th.
