**Mysuru, Karnataka:** A special court in Karnataka has ordered a Lokayukta police investigation into Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment controversy.
The order, issued by Judge Santhosh Gajanan Bhat on Wednesday, follows the High Court’s confirmation of Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot’s sanction for the inquiry. The investigation stems from allegations that Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi, received 14 prime plots in a questionable exchange for less valuable land.
Despite facing the probe, Siddaramaiah maintained his innocence, stating, “I am ready to face investigation in the MUDA case, not afraid of it.” He has denied any wrongdoing, claiming the land was legally acquired and the allegations are politically motivated.
Activist Snehamayi Krishna, who filed the complaint, has reiterated her demand for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe, arguing that the Lokayukta investigation may not be sufficient. She plans to approach the Karnataka High Court to push for a CBI investigation.
The MUDA scandal has caused significant political uproar, with opposition parties alleging that Siddaramaiah usurped land belonging to the Dalit community. Estimates of the scam reach ₹3,000 crore.
Siddaramaiah has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Janata Dal (Secular) (JD(S)) of using the Governor’s office to launch false allegations aimed at destabilizing his government.
Despite expressing confidence in the judicial system, Siddaramaiah stated he will consult legal experts to determine the legal validity of the investigation before deciding on his next steps.
