Mon Sep 23 22:30:12 UTC 2024: ## Florida’s Top Safety Recruit Set to Take Official Visit Before Signing Day
**GAINESVILLE, FL -** Florida Gators fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Four-star safety Demetres Samuel Jr., who flipped his commitment from Syracuse to Florida over the summer, has confirmed he will be taking an official visit to Gainesville before the early signing period.
While his reclassification from the 2026 to the 2025 class means time is of the essence, Samuel told 247Sports’ Blake Alderman that he plans to visit Florida sometime in November. “It’s going to have to be in-season, but probably will do those sometime around November since signing day is closer to the start of December now,” said Samuel. “Sometime when my season is done. I am going to definitely do one with Florida.”
Besides Florida, Samuel will also be taking official visits to UCF, Syracuse, and potentially Alabama. Despite the busy schedule, Samuel sees a strong opportunity to play early with the Gators. “They are running a little shallow on the depth chart with some guys hurt, but that’s why they went out and wanted to get me,” he said. “I see they run a lot of man, and like to play a lot of press man.”
Samuel also expressed his continued confidence in Florida head coach Billy Napier, dismissing the social media noise and reaffirming his commitment to the program. “I would have decommitted already if I had any doubts,” he said.
Samuel is a highly touted recruit, ranked as high as No. 123 nationally by On3. His official visit to Florida could solidify the Gators’ position as the frontrunner for his signature.
