Mon Sep 23 22:00:00 UTC 2024: ## Eonix Secures $1.7M Air Force Contract to Develop Ultra-High-Power Batteries

**Knoxville, TN -** Eonix, a leading innovator in battery technology, has been awarded a $1.7 million Phase II STTR contract by AFWERX to develop next-generation ultra-high-power batteries. The funding will be used to design high-conductivity electrolytes, compatible with existing battery manufacturing methods, to meet the demanding energy storage needs of Directed Energy, Counter-drone swarms (C-sUAS), and electric Vertical Take Off Landing (e-VTOL) systems.

“These new technologies are poised to revolutionize modern air defense, offering cost-effective engagement, enhanced base resilience, and advanced surveillance and attack capabilities,” stated Eonix Founder Don Derosa. “Our ATLAS materials discovery platform will be instrumental in designing a battery chemistry that enhances power density, discharge rate, and operational temperature, allowing the Air Force to effectively respond to the rapidly evolving aerial threats.”

Eonix’s ATLAS platform, already proven successful in projects backed by the Army, DOE, NSF, and Air Force, utilizes a unique combination of real-time material behavior measurement and quantum mechanics simulations to train AI models. This accelerated approach, 40 times faster and 15 times less expensive than traditional R&D methods, enables rapid prediction of material performance and identification of novel material candidates.

This partnership with AFWERX, an organization dedicated to accelerating the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) process, is a testament to Eonix’s innovative approach. The company’s work will contribute to the development of innovative capabilities that strengthen the national defense of the United States.
