Brook’s magnificent 110 off 94 balls, laced with 13 boundaries and two sixes, fueled England’s recovery after they were reeling at 11-2 early on. He shared a crucial 156-run partnership with Will Jacks (84 off 82) for the third wicket, putting the Australians on the back foot.

Australia, who had won the toss and elected to bat, posted a respectable total of 304-7 thanks to a solid knock of 77 not out from Alex Carey and a 60-run contribution from Steve Smith.
