Mon Sep 23 21:26:59 UTC 2024: ## Bayfield High School in Dunedin Closed After Threatening Email

**Dunedin, New Zealand** – Bayfield High School in Dunedin’s Anderson’s Bay was closed today after a threatening email was sent to the school. Armed police escorted students off the school grounds in groups of four as they investigated the origin of the correspondence.

The school was initially placed in lockdown around 8:35 am when the threat was received. An email from the principal to parents directed them to keep their children at home if they hadn’t already left for school. A similar message was posted on the school’s website and social media pages.

Around mid-morning, the decision was made to call off classes for the day. Police confirmed they were investigating the threatening email and have a visible presence in the area while inquiries continue.

This is the second lockdown at Bayfield High School in recent months. In November, the school was locked down for two hours following a similar online threat.

Parents gathered outside the school as their children were escorted out. Some students reported being locked down in their classrooms and witnessing armed police clearing people from nearby areas.

Police are working to establish the origin of the threatening email.
