Wed Sep 25 06:55:40 UTC 2024: ## Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Under Fire for Alleged MUDA Scam, BJP Demands Resignation
**Bengaluru:** Former Union Minister and BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar has demanded the resignation of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the wake of a High Court ruling that greenlights an investigation into the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam.
The High Court dismissed Siddaramaiah’s petition challenging the Governor’s approval for the probe, paving the way for an investigation into irregularities in land allotments under the MUDA’s 50:50 site distribution scheme.
Chandrasekhar accused Siddaramaiah of being directly involved in the scam, alleging that he gifted extensive land to his family, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge’s family, and other party leaders. He further stated that the CM was continuing the Congress’s tradition of entering politics under the guise of helping the poor while enriching themselves.
The BJP leader compared Siddaramaiah to former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who he claimed was “thrown out” after a court ruling. “It’s time for Siddaramaiah to resign and not become another Kejriwal, clinging to power until he is forced out,” Chandrasekhar said.
The alleged MUDA scam involves allegations of irregularities in land allotments, particularly regarding a plot in a high-end Mysuru locality allegedly received by CM Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi. The plot was originally a 3.16-acre land transferred to Siddaramaiah’s brother-in-law in 2005 and gifted to his wife in 2010. Concerns have been raised about favouritism and corruption as the land was acquired by MUDA for development, and compensatory plots were allegedly allocated in more valuable areas.
The BJP has demanded that the Congress party clarify its stance on the issue, while the investigation into the MUDA scam is set to proceed.
