Wed Sep 25 06:54:21 UTC 2024: ## Andhra Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan and Actor Prakash Raj Spar Over Tirupati Laddu Controversy
**Vijayawada, India:** A heated exchange on social media has erupted between Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and renowned actor Prakash Raj over the ongoing controversy surrounding the use of animal fat in Tirupati laddu, a sacred offering at the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple.
Kalyan, the leader of the Janasena party, criticized the film industry for trivializing religious matters, emphasizing the sanctity of Hinduism and the seriousness of allegations of food adulteration. He has embarked on a 11-day “Prayaschitta Diksha” purification ritual following the controversy.
In response to Raj’s questioning of his secularism, Kalyan asserted, “I am addressing the sanctity of Hinduism and issues like food adulteration. Why should I not speak about these matters?” He further called for the establishment of a national ‘Sanatana Dharma Rakshana Board’ to address concerns about temple desecration and food adulteration, specifically mentioning the alleged use of animal fat in the Tirupati laddu.
Raj, however, urged Kalyan to focus on resolving the issue within Andhra Pradesh, where he holds a ministerial position. “Please investigate and find out the culprits and take stringent action,” he wrote, questioning Kalyan’s decision to bring the issue to a national level.
The controversy has sparked a wider debate on the protection of religious sites and practices, with Kalyan calling for a national dialogue involving religious leaders, policymakers, and the judiciary.
The situation remains tense, with both sides expressing strong opinions on the matter. The controversy highlights the sensitivity surrounding religious beliefs and practices in India, particularly in the context of recent communal tensions.
