**PHILADELPHIA** – The Chicago Cubs have added a new arm to their bullpen, claiming right-handed reliever Enoli Paredes off waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday. Paredes, who turns 29 on Saturday, pitched to a 1.74 ERA in 17 relief appearances with the Brewers this season before landing on the injured list with a right forearm issue.
The Cubs also made several other roster moves ahead of their series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies. Right-handers Gavin Hollowell and Caleb Kilian were recalled from Triple-A Iowa, while right-hander Jorge López was placed on the 15-day injured list with a right groin strain. Right-hander Trey Wingenter was optioned to the Arizona Complex League.
López, 31, joined the Cubs in June after being released by the New York Mets. He has a 2.03 ERA in 24 appearances with Chicago.
Paredes was designated for assignment by the Brewers on Friday. He has a 3.06 ERA in 54 career appearances, all in relief.
The Cubs had an open spot on their 40-man roster after designating right-hander Shawn Armstrong for assignment last week.
