Tue Sep 24 22:37:18 UTC 2024: ## England Ends Australia’s Unbeaten Streak in Thrilling ODI Victory

**Chester-le-Street, England:** England ended Australia’s 14-match winning streak in a rain-affected third ODI at Riverside Ground, securing a 46-run victory via the DLS method on Tuesday.

Stand-in captain Harry Brook, who scored a maiden ODI century (110*), was the hero for England, guiding them to a target-beating score despite the weather interruption. His innings, alongside a crucial 84 from Will Jacks, helped England recover from a shaky start after losing both openers to Mitchell Starc’s early onslaught.

Earlier, Australia posted a competitive 7-304 despite a slow start. Steve Smith (60) and Alex Carey (77*) anchored the innings, while Aaron Hardie’s career-best 44 helped Australia finish strongly. Carey’s performance once again highlights his strong form and poses a selection headache for the Australian team ahead of the upcoming home summer.

Despite a valiant effort, the Australian bowlers couldn’t contain Brook’s aggressive batting, with the Englishman reaching his century in just 33 deliveries. Rain intervened in the 38th over, ending the match prematurely and handing England a much-needed win in the five-match series.

“England were too good,” admitted Australian captain Mitchell Marsh after the game. The victory keeps the series alive with two matches remaining, with the fourth ODI scheduled for Friday at Lord’s.
