Mon Sep 23 23:14:47 UTC 2024: ## Cowboys Exec Confirms Support for Mike McCarthy Despite Rough Start

Despite the Dallas Cowboys’ underwhelming 1-2 start to the season, head coach Mike McCarthy’s job appears secure.

During a recent interview, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones affirmed his confidence in McCarthy, stating, “Absolutely, that’s why we hired Mike in the first place. He’s got a resume that shows that he gets the job done as a head coach.” Jones cited McCarthy’s championship experience, including Super Bowl wins and multiple championship game appearances, as evidence of his capabilities.

While doubts arose surrounding McCarthy’s effectiveness following last year’s disappointing Wild Card loss, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones reassured fans in January that the team was committed to moving forward with McCarthy.

This season’s slow start, highlighted by a recent 28-25 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, has raised eyebrows. The Cowboys struggled mightily on both sides of the ball, particularly in the running game, allowing the Ravens to rack up 274 rushing yards while only managing 51 yards themselves.

With a short turnaround before a crucial NFC East matchup against the New York Giants on Thursday Night Football, McCarthy faces increasing pressure to find a winning formula for the Cowboys.
