**Jammu and Kashmir:** The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced plans to create five new districts in Jammu and Kashmir, bringing the total number to 25. The decision, according to BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh, is aimed at streamlining administration and improving access to government services for residents, especially in hilly regions.
Chugh further criticized the National Conference (NC) and Congress for their “anti-national” stance, accusing them of siding with Pakistan and undermining development in J&K. He specifically targeted Farooq Abdullah, accusing him of advocating for Pakistan’s interests more than the progress of Jammu and Kashmir.
Chugh emphasized that talks with Pakistan cannot occur while terrorism persists, highlighting the recent statement of Pakistan’s Defence Minister acknowledging shared views with the NC and Congress on issues like Article 370. He believes this exposes a hidden agenda between these parties and Pakistan.
Chugh also criticized the NC-Congress alliance, stating that they have been “dancing to the tunes of Pakistan” at the expense of peace and development in J&K. He believes the people of J&K have witnessed the damage inflicted by the Abdullahs and Muftis over the years and are now seeking development, job opportunities, and tourism growth.
The announcement of new districts comes as the second phase of Jammu and Kashmir’s Assembly elections is underway, with prominent figures like Omar Abdullah, Ravinder Raina, and Tariq Karra among the 239 candidates. The BJP hopes these reforms and their strong stance against the opposition will resonate with voters and lead to a decisive victory.
