**HONG KONG, Sep 23, 2024:** China has strongly condemned Israel’s large-scale airstrike on Lebanon, calling it a violation of the country’s sovereignty and security. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, meeting with his Lebanese counterpart Abdallah Bou Habib in New York, reiterated China’s unwavering support for Lebanon’s territorial integrity and security.
“No matter how the situation changes, China will continue to stand on the side of justice and on the side of Arab brothers, including Lebanon,” Wang said.
The Israeli airstrikes, which killed at least 492 people in Lebanon, have sparked widespread condemnation and concern. China, in particular, voiced opposition to the indiscriminate targeting of civilians, calling for a permanent ceasefire and a full withdrawal of troops.
