Chicago P.D. is welcoming a new face to its Intelligence Unit. Toya Turner, known for her role in “Warrior Nun,” will be joining the drama as Kiana Cook, a seasoned police officer with a penchant for action and a strong sense of integrity.

Kiana is described as “very cool, very different” and “action-oriented” by showrunner Gwen Sigan. She brings a fresh perspective, having come from patrol and possessing a “run and gun” mentality. Sigan highlights Kiana’s outspoken nature, explaining that she’s “looking for a place where she fits in and they do the job in the way that she loves to do the job, where they stand with integrity.”

The introduction of Kiana marks a significant moment for the show, as she represents the first Black female Intelligence officer viewers have seen. Sigan is excited about the possibilities this opens up: “It’s going to give us a lot of great opportunities to tell stories maybe we haven’t gotten an opportunity to yet, or we haven’t gotten to dive into as deeply as we would like.”

Turner’s debut comes in the wake of Tracy Spiridakos’ departure as Detective Hailey Upton in the Season 11 finale. Fans can catch Turner’s first appearance as Kiana in Episode 2 of “Chicago P.D.” Season 12, airing on September 25th.
