Wed Sep 25 05:54:20 UTC 2024: ## Mumbai Metro Stations Get New Names to Reflect Current Locations

**Mumbai, India – September 20, 2024** – The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has approved the renaming of several stations on the Mumbai Metro’s Aqua Line (Metro 3). The changes were made after a request from the Maharashtra Government to update the names to reflect the local area accurately.

The most notable changes include:

* **”Domestic Airport”** will now be known as **”Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport T1.”**
* **”International Airport”** has been renamed to **”Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport T2.”**
* **”Mumbai Central Metro”** has been renamed to **”Jagannath Shankarshet Metro.”**

These changes, according to Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Managing Director Ashwin Bhide, are minor adjustments to reflect the true location of the stations. She cited the renaming of **”Bandra station”** to **”BKC”** (Bandra Kurla Complex) as an example, highlighting the importance of reflecting the station’s actual location within the Bandra Complex Region.

These changes are expected to come into effect shortly, with signage and maps being updated to reflect the new names.
