**Los Angeles, CA -** The story of influential L.A. rock band Redd Kross is set to hit the big screen this fall with the release of the documentary “Born Innocent: The Redd Kross Story.” Abramorama has secured worldwide theatrical distribution rights for the film, directed by Andrew Reich, which chronicles the band’s journey from their 1970s beginnings to their current status as a cult classic.

“Born Innocent” delves into the history of brothers and founders Jeff and Steven McDonald, highlighting their impact on the Los Angeles music scene. The documentary features interviews with notable figures in music, including members of Pearl Jam, The Go-Go’s, Sonic Youth, Soundgarden, The Bangles, Black Flag, and Dinosaur Jr.

The film, which won the Jury Award for best documentary at the 2023 Sound Unseen Film Festival, has received critical acclaim. Variety’s Jem Aswad praised Redd Kross for being “ahead of their time,” stating that their “unabashed affection for garish fashions, the Partridge Family, Mackenzie Phillips and other pop-culture icons of their childhood was visionary.”

Formed in 1978, Redd Kross emerged from the Southern California hardcore punk scene, but quickly embraced a diverse range of influences including grunge, glam metal, and even pop culture icons.

Abramorama president Evan Saxon expressed his excitement about distributing “Born Innocent,” stating, “Growing up in Los Angeles, Redd Kross has been a fun, important, and colorful band in my musical landscape… This is a must-see documentary for anyone that likes music.”

Jeff and Steven McDonald added, “We’re so excited that Abramorama has agreed to help us show our story on screen as it should be seen… ‘Born Innocent’ is an honest, funny, and poignant look into our lives.”

“Born Innocent” joins a lineup of recent documentary releases by Abramorama, including “Electric Lady Studios: A Jimi Hendrix Vision,” “Majority Rules,” and “America’s Burning.” The company is also set to distribute Elisa Levine’s “Sweetheart Deal” and the rock documentary “Placebo: This Search For Meaning.”
