The data, shared by hackers on the dark web in 2018, reveals an IP address linked to a user account who left dozens of racist remarks on the forum, and this address can be traced to Winston-Salem, a city near Robinson’s Greensboro home.
This latest development follows a CNN report last week which first linked Robinson to the anonymous account. Robinson, currently North Carolina’s lieutenant governor, dismissed the initial report as “salacious tabloid trash” and has vowed to remain in the gubernatorial race.
However, the SPLC’s newly-obtained data, which originates from a broader data breach spanning multiple websites, offers further evidence connecting Robinson to the controversial online postings. A spokesperson for Robinson’s campaign has not yet responded to requests for comment on the new information.
