Wed Sep 25 06:55:41 UTC 2024: ## Karnataka High Court Upholds Governor’s Sanction to Investigate Siddaramaiah in MUDA Scam, BJP Demands Resignation
**Chennai, September 25 (ANI):** The Karnataka High Court has dismissed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s petition challenging the Governor’s sanction to investigate him in the alleged MUDA scam. The court upheld the Governor’s decision, stating that it was grounded in legality and constitutional principles.
Following the ruling, the BJP has demanded Siddaramaiah’s resignation, criticizing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for not doing the same. BJP National Spokesperson CR Kesavan questioned why Gandhi is protecting Siddaramaiah and not asking for his resignation. He accused Gandhi of “cunning opportunistic politics” and called Siddaramaiah a “beleaguered, lame duck Chief Minister”.
Meanwhile, Karnataka BJP president BY Vijayendra demanded an apology from Congress leaders for maligning Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot’s reputation by accusing him of being a political puppet. He called for a public apology in light of the High Court’s decision validating the Governor’s actions.
The case involves allegations of illegal land allotment by the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) to Siddaramaiah’s wife in a prime location of Mysuru city. While Siddaramaiah maintains he is not scared of the BJP and JD(S) conspiracy, the BJP is pressing for his resignation and has planned a siege at his official residence.
The Karnataka High Court’s decision is expected to further fuel political tensions in the state, with the BJP seeking to capitalize on the controversy and the Congress under pressure to respond to the allegations.
