Wed Sep 25 11:54:42 UTC 2024: ## Badlapur Sexual Assault Accused Shot Dead: Family Alleges Staged Encounter

**Thane, India:** The death of Akshay Shinde, the prime suspect in the sexual assault of two kindergarten girls at a Badlapur school, has sparked controversy, with his family accusing the police of a staged encounter.

Inspector Sanjay Shinde, who shot Shinde, claims the accused grabbed a pistol inside a police van and threatened to “spare no one.” An FIR has been registered against Shinde for ‘attempt to murder’, based on the inspector’s complaint.

However, Shinde’s family has vehemently denied the police’s version, alleging a conspiracy between the police and the school management. His father has filed a petition in the Bombay High Court seeking an SIT probe into the incident.

Opposition parties have also echoed the family’s concerns, expressing doubts about the police’s narrative and accusing the government of trying to protect the school authorities. Shinde’s mother and uncle maintain that their son could not have overpowered a policeman to snatch his weapon.

The incident has brought to the forefront questions about the transparency and accountability of the police investigation in the Badlapur sexual assault case. With conflicting claims and allegations of a cover-up, the truth behind Shinde’s death remains shrouded in mystery.
