Wed Sep 25 10:32:05 UTC 2024: ## Father of Badlapur Sex Abuse Accused Alleges Fake Encounter, Demands SIT Probe

**Mumbai, October 25, 2023** – The father of Akshay Shinde, accused in the Badlapur school sex abuse case, has filed a petition in the Bombay High Court alleging a fake encounter in his son’s death. Anna Shinde, through his lawyer Amit Katarnaware, demanded a court-monitored investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) into the incident.

Akshay Shinde, arrested on August 17 for allegedly sexually assaulting two young girls at a school in Badlapur, was shot dead by police on Monday evening while being transported from Taloja jail to Badlapur. According to police, Shinde snatched a weapon from an officer and fired, leading to his own injury and subsequent death.

However, Anna Shinde’s petition claims that the encounter was staged and alleges a larger conspiracy surrounding his son’s death. The petition further requests a court-monitored SIT to investigate the original sex abuse case, alleging the previous SIT failed to make any arrests apart from Akshay Shinde.

The petition also claims that Akshay Shinde was in contact with a former IPS officer and was prepared to reveal information before his death. This allegation is echoed by journalist-turned-activist Ketan Tirodkar, who also filed a petition with the High Court claiming Shinde was killed before he could disclose this information.

The Bombay High Court will hear both petitions on Wednesday.

The case has sparked public outrage and raised questions about the investigation and the encounter. The court’s decision on the petitions will be crucial in ensuring transparency and justice in the case.
