**New York City** – The Biden administration has granted two major development projects in New York City a significant boost with a combined $260 million in funding. Mayor Eric Adams announced the news on Monday, calling it a vital investment in the city’s future and its commitment to sustainability.
The lion’s share of the funding, $164 million, will go towards the redevelopment of Brooklyn Marine Terminal in Red Hook. This 122-acre site is slated to become a modern shipping facility with residential and retail components. This project, already receiving an initial $95 million investment, aims to create thousands of jobs and billions in economic impact, according to city officials.
The remaining $96 million will be used to construct the Manhattan Waterfront Greenway along 10th Avenue in Inwood. This project will create new public space, enhance safety features, and connect the existing greenway system to create a continuous cycling route around Manhattan. The greenway improvements will span 1.35 miles and include features such as a new plaza, expanded sidewalks, pedestrian islands, and improved lighting.
“Building a safer, more affordable New York City means investing in our city’s future,” stated Mayor Adams. “These investments will help us build a cleaner, greener city for all New Yorkers.”
The funding comes as part of the Biden administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and sustainability. The projects in New York City reflect the national focus on creating green spaces, supporting modern transportation systems, and revitalizing urban areas.
