Wed Sep 25 16:55:06 UTC 2024: ## Actor Siddique Flees State After Anticipatory Bail Denied, Seeks Supreme Court Intervention

**KOCHI:** Actor Siddique, facing allegations of rape from 2016, has gone into hiding after the Kerala High Court rejected his anticipatory bail plea on Tuesday. He has now approached the Supreme Court for bail, filing his petition online through advocate Ranjeeta Rohatgi.

The alleged incident occurred at the Mascot Hotel in Thiruvananthapuram in 2016. Siddique, who claims no criminal background and willingness to cooperate with the investigation, argues that custodial interrogation is unnecessary.

The Kerala government has filed a caveat plea in the Supreme Court, requesting the court to hear their arguments before granting bail. The victim has also filed a petition opposing Siddique’s bail application.

Meanwhile, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been unable to locate Siddique, who is believed to be hiding within the state with the help of friends. Police are investigating reports of a call from his mobile phone earlier on Wednesday.

The High Court’s rejection of Siddique’s anticipatory bail was based on “prima facie evidence indicating his involvement based on circumstantial evidence”. The court also ordered him to undergo a potency test.
