**Hyderabad, September 24, 2024:** Tamil film actor Karthi has issued an apology to Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan for comments he made about the “Tirupati laddu” issue. During a pre-release event for his upcoming film, Karthi, reacting to a meme about laddus, said, “We should not talk about laddu now. It is a sensitive topic.”

This remark sparked controversy, with some interpreting it as an attempt to avoid the topic while others criticized his lack of sensitivity towards an issue that concerns the faith of Hindus.

Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan responded strongly, stating that Karthi should not have made such comments. “People are making jokes about laddus. I saw one such in a cinema function saying that laddu is a sensitive issue. Don’t you ever say that. No. Don’t you ever dare to say that. Please. I respect you as actors, but when it comes to Sanatana Dharma, you have to think a hundred times before saying a word,” Kalyan said.

Karthi subsequently took to X (formerly Twitter) to apologize for any misunderstanding caused by his remarks. “Dear @PawanKalyan sir, with deep respects to you, I apologize for any unintended misunderstanding caused. As a humble devotee of Lord Venkateswara, I always hold our traditions dear. Best regards,” he wrote.

The “Tirupati laddu” issue refers to a controversy surrounding the distribution of prasadam (blessed offerings) at the Tirupati Balaji Temple, a major Hindu pilgrimage site.
