Mon Sep 23 21:24:46 UTC 2024: ## Abia State to Implement New Minimum Wage, Commence Construction of Court Halls

**Umuahia, Abia State** – The Abia State Government has announced plans to implement the new minimum wage for all state workers starting from October. The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, following the weekly State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Alex Otti.

In addition to the wage increase, the state government is also set to embark on a project to construct 17 new court halls across all 17 local government areas. This initiative aims to strengthen the administration of justice in the state.

Further demonstrating its commitment to improving public welfare, the Ministry of Health will host a free medical outreach in Ugwunnagbo next week. The outreach will provide free medical consultations, maternal and child healthcare services, and free diagnostic tests.

Governor Otti has also announced plans to host a special reception for Abia para-Olympic athletes who have brought honor to the state. This gesture acknowledges the achievements of athletes like Miss Onyinyechi Mark, who won gold in the 61 kg category, and Miss Esther Nworgu, who won silver in the 41 kg class.
