**New Delhi, September 23:** India will host the 16th Assembly of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI) from September 24-27, with President Droupadi Murmu inaugurating the event. This year’s assembly marks a significant milestone as the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG), Girish Chandra Murmu, assumes the chair of ASOSAI for the term 2024-2027.

The assembly will see over 200 delegates from 42 countries and international organizations engage in discussions focused on strengthening governance frameworks and enhancing the effectiveness of public audits. Key topics include improving accountability and promoting best practices in government operations across Asia.

A highlight of the event will be a one-day symposium exploring the intersection of technology, governance, and social inclusion, focusing on how digital advancements can bridge the gender gap in accessing public services.

ASOSAI, founded in 1979, has grown to encompass 48 SAIs and plays a vital role in promoting collaboration, knowledge exchange, and capacity building among its members. The organization’s first assembly and Governing Board meeting were held in New Delhi in 1979, making this year’s event a symbolic return to its roots.

The 16th ASOSAI Assembly is expected to strengthen the organization’s role in promoting transparency and accountability within the Asian region, contributing to a more robust and effective governance landscape.
