**Mumbai, India:** Kiran Rao’s directorial comeback, “Laapataa Ladies,” has taken flight, officially chosen as India’s entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 2025 Academy Awards.

The film, a heartwarming tale of two brides who accidentally swap places on a train, released in theaters on March 1st this year. Starring Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Ravi Kisan, and Chhaya Kadam, the movie is set in rural India and explores themes of identity and destiny.

“Laapataa Ladies” premiered at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2023, captivating audiences and earning a standing ovation.
