Tue Sep 24 01:50:52 UTC 2024: ## Mohun Bagan Super Giant Triumphs in Dramatic Comeback Win Against NorthEast United
**KOLKATA, INDIA** – Mohun Bagan Super Giant staged a remarkable comeback to defeat NorthEast United 3-2 in a thrilling Indian Super League (ISL) match at the Salt Lake Stadium on Monday.
The match saw a captivating exchange of leads, with NorthEast initially dominating the first half. Mohammed Bemmamer opened the scoring in the 5th minute with a powerful finish. Mohun Bagan quickly responded with an equaliser in the 10th minute thanks to a header from defender Dippendu Biswas.
NorthEast regained the lead in the 24th minute through a slick counter-attack finished by Alaeddine Ajaraie. The Highlanders held onto their advantage until the 61st minute, when Mohun Bagan equalised once again, albeit controversially.
A free kick from Tom Aldred resulted in a header that NorthEast goalkeeper Gurmeet Singh failed to catch, leaving Subhasish Bose to slot the ball home. NorthEast players and coach protested, claiming a foul on Gurmeet, but the referee upheld the goal.
The comeback ignited Mohun Bagan, who went on to secure victory in the 87th minute. Substitute Jason Cummings received an assist from Sahal Abdul Samad and slotted the ball past the NorthEast defense for the winning goal.
This victory avenged Mohun Bagan’s recent Durand Cup final loss to NorthEast United at the same venue. The win also saw Mohun Bagan climb to fourth place on the ISL table with four points, while NorthEast dropped to seventh with three points.
