**Beirut/Jerusalem/Gaza City** – Tensions in the Middle East reached a dangerous peak on Monday as Israel launched hundreds of retaliatory strikes against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon, reportedly leaving nearly 300 dead. The strikes, the deadliest since October’s regional crisis, also targeted Gaza, including a refugee camp, according to UN humanitarians.

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, is warning of disease outbreaks due to lack of sanitation, while the UN aid coordination office, OCHA, reports critical shortages of clean water in northern Gaza, exacerbated by damaged infrastructure and restricted access for repairs.
The UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is providing emergency water supplies to nearly 900,000 people in Gaza, but access to clean water remains a major concern for the displaced population.
