Mon Sep 23 15:08:07 UTC 2024: ## Barclays Doubles Down on Women’s Football in Landmark Deal

**London, UK:** Barclays has signed a multi-year title sponsorship deal with the Women’s Super League (WSL) and Women’s Championship, marking the biggest commercial agreement in British women’s soccer history. The deal, worth over £30 million ($40.05 million), represents a significant financial boost for the leagues, which were acquired by Women’s Professional Leagues Limited (WPLL) in August.

This landmark renewal sees Barclays double its investment in women’s football, demonstrating its commitment to supporting the growth of the game. The bank has also extended its partnership with the Football Association (FA) for an additional three years, lasting until 2028, and renewed its sponsorship of the men’s Premier League for another four years, solidifying its position as the official banking partner until 2029.

The WSL season kicked off last weekend with Chelsea, the reigning champions, winning their first match under new manager Sonia Bompastor. Manchester City, last season’s runners-up, drew with Arsenal, while Brighton & Hove Albion, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester United also secured victories.
