**Ranchi:** In a major development, the Jharkhand High Court has ordered a CBI probe into the alleged recruitment scam in the state assembly. The decision, announced by a bench led by Acting Chief Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad, comes after a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed alleging illegal appointments in the assembly.
The scam dates back to various tenures of assembly speakers, with allegations of bribery and favoritism surfacing during the recruitment process. A previous investigation by retired Justice Vikramaditya Prasad, which was submitted in 2018, unearthed irregularities in the appointments. However, no concrete action was taken despite the report, leading to further delay and suspicion.
The court, after hearing arguments from the petitioner and assembly representatives, concluded that a CBI investigation was necessary to uncover the extent of the irregularities and bring those responsible to justice.
Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy has welcomed the court’s decision, stating that the CBI inquiry will expose the alleged corruption within the assembly and reveal the roles of the government in concealing the scam.
The CBI is expected to investigate the entire recruitment process, including the alleged role of the assembly speakers and the government in facilitating the illegal appointments. This development is a significant step towards holding the culprits accountable and restoring the integrity of the state assembly.
