Mon Sep 23 15:14:39 UTC 2024: ## Sudha Murty Releases 300th Book, “Grandpa’s Bag of Stories”
**Bangalore, September 23, 2024:** Renowned author Sudha Murty celebrated the release of her 300th book, “Grandpa’s Bag of Stories,” in Bangalore on Saturday. The event was graced by actor and writer Twinkle Khanna, who launched the book, and prominent Bangaloreans from the literary and publishing world.
“Grandpa’s Bag of Stories” is a collection of 19 enchanting tales narrated by a grandfather to his grandchildren during a scenic journey to Mayawati, Uttarakhand. The stories, brimming with wisdom and compassion, feature characters like kings, princesses, mermaids, and even bitter gourds.
In a conversation with Twinkle Khanna, Sudha Murty discussed her writing process, her inspiration for telling stories as a grandmother, and her upcoming projects. She also admitted that she was a better storyteller than her husband, Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy, who she joked might one day write a book on technology for children.
When asked about the unique challenges of writing for children, Sudha Murty emphasized her commitment to writing positive stories that impart morals without being preachy. She believes in engaging her young readers through captivating narratives rather than direct moral lectures. She also highlighted the importance of seeking feedback from her readers, who often ask her thought-provoking questions that help her improve her writing.
The author’s next project will be a book on unusual shlokas, a subject she has been contemplating for years. She is particularly drawn to shlokas that speak to themes of travel, conquest, and returning home safely, inspired by a shloka her grandfather used to recite.
“Grandpa’s Bag of Stories” promises to be a delightful read for children and adults alike, adding another feather to Sudha Murty’s impressive literary cap. The book is now available at leading bookstores.
